Mauro StaccioliStaccioli, an Italian artist living in Milan, traveled to Djerassi on three separate occasions in the process of creating this "sculptura interventa", or intervening sculpture. Though the enormous geometric wood and concrete forms are within the vocabulary of
minimalism a far more expressive statement is being made in this work through their juxtaposition with their natural surroundings. The forms are placed in such dynamic relationships with the trees that seem to be supporting or embracing them, that Staccioli's objects seem to have just fallen from the sky.
