St. Denis' Tower
2001
Patrick DoughertyCreated in Dougherty's signature style of weaving thousands of willow branches into large-scale site-specific sculptures, the artist constructed a temple-like structure 25 feet tall by 20 feet in diameter. It is placed on a high knoll to be seen from afar, adding grandeur to the landscape. Likened to an 18th century garden folly, the piece is a whimsical edifice and a destination from which to enjoy the Program's expansive natural environment.
