John Roloff

Vanishing Ship is located near the Harrington Creek and is constructed of concrete, steel and glass. The creek water is piped through the interior of the sculpture to create a greenhouse environment. This sculpture was exhibited in the University Art Museum, Berkeley and at the Smithsonian in Washington DC where it was shipped with 40 gallons of water from California's Clear Lake for the exhibition. Roloff has worked with this form in several other works including one installed at Yerba Buena Gardens and another at the De Young Museum in San Francisco.
