The lottery for Free Public Hikes #7-12 opens on Monday, June 3 at 9 AM PT. (The lottery for Free Public Hikes #1-6 is complete. ) Djerassi Resident Artists Program, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains one hour south of San Francisco, makes its majestic 583-acre ranch available to the public on a very limited basis. The hikes feature site-inspired sculptures created and donated by artists. Please come and visit to see and learn about the art that has been produced by former artists-in-residence in a setting of unique natural beauty. The Standard Route Hikes and Stations Loop Hikes are offered free of charge to visitors. All hikes are strenuous and involve a minimum elevation gain of 500 feet across 3 miles of trails. Due to the high demand in our Public Hikes, we select hike participants using an online lottery! If you are interested in attending, please click on the orange Lottery button below and select the hike date(s) you would like to attend. If you are a lucky winner, we will contact you with confirmation that you have won a spot to visit the Djerassi Ranch. The lottery for Public Hikes #1-6 will open at 9:00 AM on Monday, February 24th. The lottery for Public Hikes #7-12 will open at 9:00 AM on Monday, June 1st. Each lottery will close after 24 hours, and winners will be selected in the following days.

HIKE 8 – Sunday, August 30th, 2020, 10am – 1pm – Standard Route

HIKE 9 – Sunday, September 6th, 2020, 10am – 1pm – Standard Route

HIKE 10 – Sunday, September 20th, 2020, 10am – 1pm – Stations Loop

HIKE 11 – Sunday, October 18th, 2020, 10am – 1pm – Stations Loop

Standard Route Hikes

The Standard Route Hike (no-fee) lasts 3 hours, covers 3.5 miles of trail with a 500-foot elevation gain and explores more than 25 works of art.

Stations Loop Hikes

The Stations Loop Hike (no-fee) is great for returning visitors. The hike lasts 3 hours and covers 3.5 miles with a 750-foot elevation gain. Visitors walk trails rarely open to the public.
