Sebastian Mendes

Cast bronze, cedar wood, cast iron

The title of this cast bronze and iron bell references the Greco-Egyptian word for a snake that devours its own tail. Mendes drew on the fact that since the 15th century in Europe, bronze led an existence alternating between church bells and cannons, depending on whether it was a time of peace or war.
