Red Hot Salt Room2016

Annie Albagli

Cedar, plexiglass, metal hunting blind, canvas, salt, hydrocal, tung oil, volcanic rocks

Albagli is interested in the Bay Area as a place where military and technological dominance intersect with unique, healing ecosystems. Red Hot Salt Room is a sauna using isolation, natural heat, and salt vapors to create a healing space. Albagli asks, “if military can actively shape our experiences of the land, why can’t artists?” Photo credit Liz Crawford.
